Boost Radio Debuts on Ohio: Hip Hop for a New Generation (2025)

Get ready to turn up the volume on your faith! Christian Hip Hop is taking Ohio by storm, and it’s all thanks to a groundbreaking partnership that’s shaking up the airwaves. River Radio Ministries has officially launched Gateway Creative Broadcasting’s Boost Radio (https://myboostnation.com/) across three Ohio stations, with a fourth set to join the lineup soon. But here’s where it gets exciting: this isn’t just about music—it’s about reaching a new generation with a message that’s as fresh as the beats they love.

Boost Radio is now jamming on 88.7 W204CU Findlay, 88.9 WHEI Tiffin, and 90.1 WJEE Bolivar/Canton, alongside 104.9 WCVO-HD2 Gahana/Columbus and 104.5 WQKT-HD2 Wooster. And mark your calendars—starting January 1, 91.1 W216AH Ashland will join the family, bringing Boost’s unique sound to even more listeners. These stations, owned by Soaring Eagle Productions, made the switch to River Radio Ministries programming last November, replacing their former “Rise-FM” brand (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/286033/ohios-rise-fm-to-join-river-network/).

But here’s where it gets controversial: Can Christian Hip Hop truly bridge the gap between faith and culture? River Radio Ministries Program Director Josh Hooper thinks so. He explains, ‘These frequencies are strategically placed to serve the next generation of Christian music consumers, with vibrant college campuses within each broadcasting area. Our goal over the next three years is to bring fresh formats to Ohio and share the Good News of Jesus in a way that resonates with today’s youth. Partnering with BOOST Radio through their ‘Hip Hop Built Different’ movement is a perfect fit.’

Gateway Creative Broadcasting Operations Manager Mike Couchman echoes this sentiment, adding, ‘BOOST Radio is thrilled to partner with River Radio Ministries. Their passion for reaching Ohio with the love of Jesus—and doing it with excellence—aligns perfectly with our vision. We can’t wait to see how God moves through this collaboration.’

And this is the part most people miss: Christian Hip Hop isn’t just a genre—it’s a cultural movement that’s redefining what it means to worship. By blending faith with the rhythms and rhymes of Hip Hop, Boost Radio is creating a space where young believers can feel seen, heard, and inspired. But what do you think? Is Christian Hip Hop the future of faith-based music, or is it a trend that’s here today, gone tomorrow? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!
